The Brazilian Society of Television Engineering’s 25th annual SET Expo will be held August 24-27 in São Paulo, Brazil. SET Expo is Latin America’s premiere event of business and technology for broadcast and new media. Digital Cinema Report is an official media partner of the Expo.
One of the highlights of the event will be the demonstration of the Super Hi-Vision System by the Japanese public broadcasting company, NHK. The over-the- air streaming of 8K content live will be made using the ISDB system, adopted by the Brazilian open TV, in CCTV. “We want to show that the Brazilian TV System is prepared for future updates,” said Claudio Younis, SET marketing director.
During the Annual Congress experts from US, Japan, Europe and Latin America, will discuss the most important issues of TV production, broadcasting and distribution, as well as other topics related to video, cinema, radio and the Internet. The rich and broad programming encompasses the main trends and international standards. Among them, Ultra HD (4K), TV signal distribution via IP, Integrated Broadcast & Broadband (IBB), ATSC 3.0, FoBTV, Digital Radio, the shift from AM to FM and analog TV to digital TV, as well as, the coexistence of LTE and Digital TV, Social TV, Second Screen, Interactivity and Transmedia.
”Now, we are implementing more internal organizational capacities and, the north American partnership with the National Association of Broadcasters Show and the Japanese partnership with InterBEE, we are promoting better business opportunities for Latin American markets of broadcast and new media technology,” Younis said.
The Trade Show and Congress will occupy a total area of 17,000 square meters in the Blue Exhibition Hall of the Convention and Exposition Centers of Center Norte. Foreign exhibition halls, representing (Bavaria) Germany, Great Britain and NAB Show with North American companies will be part of the Trade Show.
Over 95 percent of the venue destined to SET Expo is already booked. Nearly 300 exhibitors will show cutting edge technologies, such as: Advantech Wireless, Aspa Stagetec, BlackMagic, Canon, Epson, Ericsson, For-A, Fujifilm, Grass Valley, Hitachi Linear, Imagine Communication, Intelsat, JVC, Panasonic, Riedel, Rohde & Schwarz, Screen Service, SES, Sony, Tektronix and many other exhibitors from Brazil and abroad.
“The Trade Show and the Congress will share a fully integrated environment, with facilities and amenities for exhibitors and visitors so that all be able to enjoy Center Norte: two shopping malls, hotel, the Underground transportation system and easy access to other means of transportation,” said Younis. “The partnership we have with NAB Show, from US, is helping us create original contents and opportunities to expand the marketplace for exhibitors and visitors of SET Expo.”
SET Expo has the support of the main associations of the sector, from Brazil and abroad (ASTRAL, ABRA, ABRATEL, ABERT, AESP, BRAVI, ABTU, AIR, Forum SBTVD and SINDVEL) and from all the major Brazilian TV and radio networks.
A business forum will be co-organized with the State of Sao Paulo Radio and TV Broadcasting Companies Association (AESP). This forum targets the participation of different professionals of the electronic medias (radio and TV), of the new media (Internet, apps, portals, games, sites and social medias) and of start-ups of Communications and Technology sectors, to discuss about the great opportunities that are popping up because of the technology convergence.
The fifth SET award ceremony will also be held. More than 10,000 professionals are expected to attend.
